City, ACLU reach settlement agreement on homeless

first_imgThe city of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union have reached a settlement allowing the homeless to sleep on city sidewalks, according to City Council President Eric Garcetti. Under the settlement, the Los Angeles Police Department will not arrest people for sleeping on city sidewalks between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. That policy will remain in place until the city is able to build 1,250 affordable housing units.
